“I wanted somewhere local and friendly with support from someone who knew what they were doing”

Janet had never been a member of gym at any time in her life and both her Mum and Grannie both suffered with serious arthritis problems and Janet did not want the same outcome.

She ikes it because its doable, but at the same time you are pushed  but always within your limits, she has made some friends and introduced some friends. Janet recommends the training because its “just right” even people with an injury like a sore knee will be found a workout that works round the problem, so you need not worry.

“As the weeks have gone on, I feel it’s easier to do things in the Garden and so on”

There is a real social feeling to the whole thing, its like going somewhere for coffee, but more strenuous.

We are all in this thing together, you have friends around you, if you go swimming you on your own and it all works part of your body, this is a complete workout, it flows nicely and your in good company, so the whole set up makes you work hard and now it just comes naturally. Ron’s message to anyone thinking about starting is simple

“I’d tell to get started straight away because the older you get the more difficult it will be to get started.

“Tony has lots of patience, a good sense of humour and encourages everyone to do their best”

I have been attending Tony’s classes for the last six months, and I know I shouldn’t say it, but I have thoroughly enjoyed them. Tony keeps you on the ball – no two classes are the same and just when you think you have sussed something out, he changes things! The results of me attending, eating a healthy balanced diet and walking the dog thirty minutes everyday are that:
– I have lost six inches around my waist,- two stone in weight
– and I have muscle definition that I haven’t had for many years.
It has been hard work but worthwhile.

“Good to be part of a small group with lots of encouragement”

Keeping fit in a class is much more organized and beneficial than going to the gym. It is good to be part of a small group with lots of encouragement. And by committing yourself to a definite day and time you are in a routine which becomes successful. I would recommend it to all of our age as a great way to get fitter.

“We feel a great benefit from our weekly classes, thanks to Tony “

It is a pleasure for me to write this testimonial for Tony Taylor who is a personal trainer operating under the name ActiveAdultsFitness.

Tony specialises in seeing the older client especially those aged over 60 years.

My wife and I have been attending weekly sessions under Tony’s supervision for several months and have both been very impressed by his professionalism, knowledge and enthusiasm. He has completed professional training courses as his many certificates show. His gymnasium in his large converted former double garage has a wooden floor, floor to ceiling wall mirrors and a wide range of equipment.

Whilst his training sessions are designed to be strenuous he nevertheless judges most carefully the abilities of his clients and adapts the training sessions accordingly. He has a delightful manner with much humour, is most encouraging but at the same time expects his clients to make progress by increasing the difficulty or level of exercise as the sessions progress.

I have no hesitation in recommending Tony Taylor to anyone who is interested in improving their level of physical fitness which as everyone knows is so important in particular for those in the older age brackets.

We feel a great benefit from our weekly classes, thanks to Tony

“I now feel more energised and able to keep up with my four lively grandchildren”

I joined Tony’s training sessions with the goal of keeping myself fit in retirement. The prospect of working out at my age, never mind in the company of strangers, left me feeling apprehensive.I needn’t have worried. Tony carefully tailors the classes to people’s strengths and weaknesses, ensuring you see results without overdoing it.The twice-weekly sessions have become one of the highlights of my week. I now feel more energised and able to keep up with my four lively grandchildren

“A friend recommended Tony’s training – I went for an assessment and was hooked! “

I have never in the past felt drawn towards gym fitness training, preferring open air team sports rather than what seemed rather mindless repetitive exercises. However the importance of maintaining a reasonable level of strength and fitness seems to become more important as the years go by and opportunities for hockey and netball matches recede! A friend recommended Tony’s training – I went for an assessment and was hooked!

Each 45 minute session is far from mindless – we know what bits are being stretched and why (and not just because we can feel it!!) – which parts need resistance work – how we can improve our strength and balance. Because the groups are so small – never more than five – we get loads of personal attention and encouragement – but we all work to our capabilities with understanding and special attention to any limiting problems.

I was worried about my knee – but in fact needlessly – Tony never pushes problem areas, but advises and I have seen considerable improvement in the knee and this is only my second ‘term’ of six sessions. Its serious enough to do you good – but thank goodness it is light hearted enough to enjoy some laughs – quite a few in fact!

The benefits become apparent surprisingly quickly – and it is splendidly useful to concentrate on the problems of ageing – of loss of power and strength and balance – and the strategies and exercises for overcoming or at least alleviating them.

“I certainly feel stronger which helps when lifting my 4-year-old grandson!”

I have been attending Active Adults Fitness for a year and feel I have benefitted greatly from the targeted exercise sessions conducted by Tony Taylor. I certainly feel stronger which helps when lifting my 4-year-old grandson! The exercises to improve balance and muscle tone have simply made me feel fitter and less prone to aches and pains. Tony takes great care to tailor the exercise programme to the needs of his mature clientele gradually increasing the scope of activities as the programme progresses.

Thoroughly recommended!

“Surprisingly I found that the classes were providing relief rather than exacerbating the problem”

I’ve been attending Active Adults Fitness since February 2017 certainly and I am feeling the benefit. OK, a few aches and pains at the end of the session, but a real feeling of euphoria after a shower. There is also a general feeling of greater well-being. I have told you that I have, or had, some sciatic issues. Surprisingly I found that the classes were providing relief rather than exacerbating the problem. I would not say I’m totally “cured”, but very much better. I attribute this to efforts at Active Adults Fitness. Interestingly, I have seen a physiotherapist. He gave me a thorough examination and then prescribed some exercises. Again it is interesting to note that all are part of the “warm up” phase of my weekly efforts.

“We like the relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which the exercise takes place”

At my employer’s retirement course for my wife Diane and me, one of the suggestions was that we think about a personal trainer to keep ourselves fit for retirement. So when, a couple of years later the Holmes Chapel U3A engaged Tony to speak about exercise and fitness for those of ‘later years’ we went along to hear his enlightening talk and immediately liked what we heard. Twenty two years ago, Diane suffered a major stroke resulting from a brain haemorrhage that left her with left side weakness together with balance problems and the need for close supervision for physical activities. Tony’s personal approach and flexible plans enable Diane to experience exercise in a safe environment and at the same time, allows more taxing exercise regimes for me. The exercise routines change periodically avoiding boredom combine aerobic, balance, flexibility, and muscle building elements. We like the relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which the exercise takes place and the stretching personal targets, without pressure to perform. The benefits we gain are a general feeling of wellbeing, feeling fitter, and raising of metabolic rate helping to burn fat and hopefully staving off the decline in body muscle with age. My objective is to keep us fit enough so that we can both enjoy retirement and Tony’s regimes are helping to achieve this target.
